Pattern, materials, and construction are considered as one system, allowing the final piece to move in alignment with the body while expressing the character and presence of the person it is made for.

Bespoke footwear is developed from a unique last created to your individual measurements, allowing for a fully personalised fit and design. Made-to-order footwear is created using an existing last, with selected customisations applied to materials and finish. Both are approached with the same level of precision in pattern and construction, but differ in the degree to which the structure of the shoe is developed specifically for the individual.

The bespoke process begins with a conversation to understand the client's requirements, intended design, and scope of the work. We may then arrange an initial consultation to assess the foot in person, refine the design direction, and determine the technical approach.A consultation is from £300, depending on location and requirements, and is redeemable against the final commission. Following this stage, a quotation is confirmed once design, materials, and construction have been established in full.Bespoke footwear starts from £3,000, which includes the design and making of the shoes. Each bespoke commission requires the creation of an individual last, charged separately at £800. The last remains the property of Ego Atelier as a specialist working tool of the atelier and is retained for future reference. Final pricing is confirmed once the design, materials, and construction requirements have been fully established. All charges are set out in your written quotation before the commission is accepted. Once accepted, a deposit is taken to begin development, with the remaining balance due upon completion.

Bespoke footwear is typically completed within 3–6 months, depending on the design, materials, and current atelier schedule. Your estimated timeline will be confirmed during your private bespoke consultation and refined as the commission progresses.

The number of fittings varies depending on the design's complexity and the individual's requirements. Each stage is approached with precision, ensuring the final result aligns with both the structure of the foot and the intent of the design.

Yes, where the existing last is suitable for the new design. A different toe shape, heel height or construction may require adjustments, a new last or further pattern development. Any additional work and costs will be confirmed before the commission begins.

The last is a working tool developed specifically for your measurements and is retained within the atelier. Its creation reflects the labour and expertise required to establish an accurate foundation for your footwear, and allows for continuity across future commissions.

Yes, we offer a full refurbishment service through our concierge. The first refurbishment is complimentary, with shipping charges covered by the client. We will arrange pickup and drop-off via FedEx for your convenience.

Bespoke commissions are developed to individual measurements or agreed specifications and will ordinarily be personalised items. Where the personalised-goods exception applies, there is no automatic change-of-mind cancellation right; this will be explained in your written commission terms before acceptance.Please contact the atelier promptly if you wish to cancel or request a change. We will confirm what is possible, any reasonable charges for work already undertaken or unavoidable costs, and any effect on timing. Your rights if goods are faulty or not as described remain unaffected.

Consultations are arranged depending on location and requirements, and may take place in a private setting or at a suitable meeting space. Each is approached with discretion and consideration for the client.
